We are designers, handcrafters and environmental stewards of honest, inspired furniture.

The Joinery has been producing hardwood furniture since 1982. Our focus has been on both design and construction; we work towards creating furniture that lasts generations.

To accomplish this we take action to be kind to our earth.

• We operate under the guidelines of the Forest Stewardship Council and have for over 15 years. Over 85% of our wood is FSC certified or harvested within 100 miles; we use lumber from Collins Woods, Healthy Forests Healthy Communities and reclaimed materials.
• We are one of the largest producers of FSC furniture in the Pacific Northwest.
• The furniture we make is heirloom quality and guaranteed for life.
• In 2010 we were awarded the Build Local Alliance Company of the year in their Build Local Challenge.
• We are the recipient of the 100 Best Green Companies to work for in 2010 by Oregon Business Magazine
• We are the recipient of the 100 Best Green Companies to work for in 2009 by Oregon Business Magazine
• In 2009 we were the recipient of the National Green Purchaser Award by the EPA
• Our facility runs on 100% wind power and we use Smart Energy to reduce greenhouse gases.
• We support Friends of Trees and received an award from them in 2009.
• We are the recipient of City of Portland’s Blueworks award for recycling.
• In 2008 we donated over 7% of our profits to charities.
• Our Delivery truck runs on Biofuel.
• We have reduced our landfill amount by 50% via donations of scrap and sawdust.
• We use High Efficiency Lighting in our Shop.
• Our office uses Recycled Paper Products
• We are members of the Arbor Day Foundation.
