July 2012

Fresh on the floor this week is the Robin's Perch in Cherry. This little bench is so versatile you can put it almost anywhere.  It works well behind sofas, in small foyers, or at the dining table when additional seating is needed. The two boards on the top are slightly tapered towards the middle which makes the bench both beautiful and very comfortable. The Robin's Perch is available in two lengths 36" and 48". Shown below in Cherry the 36" Robin's Perch is $565 and is 14" deep and 17"h.

* Update: The Joinery no longer offers classes. Please visit the Guild of Oregon Woodworkers for great woodworking classes here.

Instead of purchasing your next furniture piece from The Joinery, you can build it yourself at one of our furniture classes for the same price. Classes still available this year are an Arts and Crafts Bed, a Hope Chest and a Modern Pencil Post Bed.

Today is the first day of the Rocking Chair class which filled up quickly. The students will be gluing up their seats, cutting out some of the pieces tonight and then will be back on Saturday and Sunday to create their own handcrafted James or Leon Rocker.

Here are some images of some previous classes.

Fresh on the floor this week is one of the most unique Studio Dining Tables we've seen - it features very sappy Western Walnut. This piece is a show stopper and should be the focal point of any room. It's shown here fully extended with two leaves but the leaves can be removed and stored inside the table. The dimensions are 42 x 66-110 x 30 and the retail price is $4,615.

Thank you to the firm Roman and Williams for providing us with such a feast for our eyes. This 2,000 square foot residence in Montauk, New York is a great example of how white walls and understated furnishings create the perfect backdrop for eclectic collections.

This modest 1,880 square foot home located in Bovina, NY has captured our hearts. Not only is it simply beautiful but architect Kimberly Peck designed the home with budget and energy efficiency in mind. The house was carefully sited to take advantage of the amazing views but windows were used sparingly to reduce heat loss in the extreme winters.

The Joinery has an amazing selection of Western Walnut available for furniture and one of the places we get it from is Goby Walnut. Art Blumenkron, the owner of Goby Walnut shown below has a vast inventory of Pacific Northwest Woods including local Walnut, shown below.
