During a remodel of a preschool in Plymouth, Massachusetts, Michael and Garrison Burrey discovered the oldest known woodworking shop in the United States. Once used by master carpenter Luther Sampson in the 18th century, this joinery shop still has many of the original benches and shelves in excellent condition.
Woodshops from the 1700's are very rare, so experts are studding clues to capture how the shop was used. There are unique shelves throughout for handtools and other items. Most of the furniture built is believed to be in the federalist style with local woods. Now they are working on getting the building as a national historic landmark.
