Joinery Technique - Traditional Dovetail

Dovetail

Dovetails are one of the strongest joints known to craftsmen because of their resistance to be pulled apart. They are joined together by pins & tails which are interlocking parts joined with glue and have a trapezoidal shape. For a traditional dovetail we cut them with An aluminum Jig which is a pattern that is very accurate, fast, & efficient. In our shop we use dovetails for drawers, cases, and they are also used in a decorative way.
