Oregon Myrtle is a unique wood found in Southern Oregon. Thanks to partnerships like Healthy Forests, Healthy Communities, The Joinery is able to offer furniture built from sustainably harvested Oregon Myrtlewood.
This beautiful hardwood ranges in color from warm creams to rich chocolates and provides gorgeous material for The Joinery’s master woodworkers to handcraft a dramatic Shaker solid top dining table. This classic design features tapered legs, a chamfer detail on the top, exposed dowels in each leg and curved end aprons.

Downtown Portland is dressed up for the holidays —are you? Come do your holiday shopping downtown and enjoy some monumental attire around Pioneer Courthouse Square. Our statue mascots have some festive surprises in store for you.
Beginning Tuesday, November 10, some of downtown’s most iconic sculptures will don their holiday finery for the season. In the Pioneer District on Southwest Yamhill and Morrison streets (between Fifth and Sixth Avenues), you’ll see Animals in Pools, Allow Me (aka “Umbrella Man”) and Kvinneakt dressed up in festive ugly sweaters.
A team of local fiber artists will descend upon downtown and make these so-ugly-they’re-cute wardrobe changes on Thursdays through Christmas. You can join in on the fun: Wear your ugly sweaters downtown and take selfies with these yarn-bombed statues. Be sure to tag pictures with #uglysweaterpdx.
Congratulations to Friends of Trees and their many supporters on their efforts in the Woodstock neighborhood to Save The Giants! Three large sequoia trees were recently saved from potential demolition. They celebrated with supporters this week at The Joinery Woodstock location.

Instead of an event-based project, like a street fair or parade, this year the Woodstock Community Business Association (WCBA) dedicated Sunday, September 13th, to an unusual promotion they called “Woodstock Gives Back: A Coordinated Day of Giving”.
DAVID F. ASHTON - Friends of Trees Deputy Director Brighton West, here with the organizations mascot, stood outside The Joinery. This company builds sustainable furniture, using wood, West pointed out. The idea is, when you buy a piece of their furniture it lasts for a lifetime or more; so it’s definitely not a waste of a tree. Friends of Trees benefited that day from any sales in the store.
At last count, about 28 Woodstock-area businesses set out to raise funds and create increased awareness for the charity or nonprofit of their choice. Participating businesses also offered sales and coupons as a draw for customers.
In honor of the 2nd installment of our award winning Design Annual, Portland Monthly has teamed up with The Joinery to celebrate (in our hand-built new downtown location) the movers and shakers shaping the design industry in Portland. Slated for October's 1st Thursday, the party will bring together design leaders, supporters, educators and creative influencers for a toast and opportunity to bask in the innovation coming out of our great city.
Featuring oyster + Laphroaig pairings, Boy and Bean tunes and 300 of Portland’s most influential right-brainers, it’s a party not to be missed!
