There is definitely a family resemblance between the Sebastian Bookcases and the Sebastian End Table, including racetrack-shaped legs, a light and open feel, and contrasting end grain plugs that provide a beautiful design feature. But in contrast to their cousin, the Sebastian Bookcases are made with thick solid wood shelves that provide a sense of heft and sturdiness. The shelves cantilever beyond the legs and are evenly spaced to keep the pieces visually clean and symmetrical.  They come in two standard sizes, providing versatility to accommodate any space. Come see the Sebastians at either our Woodstock or Yamhill showroom.

This holiday season we partnered with Colorhouse Paint to transform our Hayden dining table and chairs into three distinct holiday looks by changing up the color pallete thru the paint and table settings. With Colorhouse's direction and amazing paints our Hayden dining set transforms into the perfect gathering space in all three looks.

PASTEL PINK PALLET

Colorhouse Paint used their SPROUT .06 as the starting point for this amazing pink vignette and paired it with ceramics by Eutectic Gallery, Icon Ceramics and accessories from Crate and Barrel.

The design intent behind the Hayden Dining Table was to create a simplified trestle table with an overall clean and light form. Unlike normal kitchen duty, in table construction we kept things clean by removing the aprons.  We focusd on subtle details including exposed splines at the top and bottom of the legs, and a slight angle to the bottoms of the feet that keeps the table light and elevated.

The Sebastian End Table is a gorgeous yet functional piece that can add color or richness to a variety of living spaces.  It is characterized by a circular top and legs that are completely rounded over.  The legs are pinned to the top with end-grain dowels that provide a beautiful design detail.  Its compact size allows the Sebastian to be used in a variety of placements throughout the living room, home office or bedroom.

Creating solid wood lounge furniture is a great challenge. It requires a delicate balance between highlighting lumber and craftsmanship, while still providing alluring comfort that makes you want to sit – and not get up. Over the past several months our Design Team, led by Taryn and Tenzin, created the Clyde Sofa and Clyde Lounge Chair. These pieces are uniquely different from our other lines, but still provide the timeless beauty and exacting quality that holds up to our lifetime warranty.

The design intent behind the Clyde line is to focus on the incredible richness and grain of our wood material while highlighting time-honored craftsmanship techniques. The large expanses of solid wood throughout allow the cleanest and most character-rich lumber to shine, and are miter wrapped around the sides and back for a clean finished appearance. In response to the crisp edges of the frame, we use cushions with more loft, softer edges and inviting texture. Deep seating makes Clyde perfect for long book sessions or cozy movie nights. Although naturally modern, Clyde can work its way into almost any style living room through thoughtful material selections.

Both pieces are available in any of our six standard wood species. The sofa and lounge chair are currently featured in Eastern Walnut at our Woodstock showroom, and in Cherry at our downtown Portland showroom.

While our standard wood species allow us to build stunning dining tables, occasionally we like to experiment with different woods.  Recently we came across an incredible set of locally harvested, book matched Elm slabs and knew we could put them to good use.  The result is a gorgeous Live Edge Dining Table built by Michael, a ten-year veteran at The Joinery. The piece features an open grain pattern and unique figuring that resembles a heart shape.

We thought the table was stunning, and customers did too. It didn’t last long on our Yamhill showroom floor, but it will in it’s new home: the office of Steve Bloom, the CEO of the Portland Japanese Garden.

Taryn, our furniture designer, and master craftsman Hilario recently teamed up to create the Maud Desk, a mid-century-inspired writing desk that’s as graceful as a gazelle, with a chameleon-like ability to blend beautifully into small spaces like a bedroom recess or a bright entryway.

Whether you’re deliberately downsizing your living spaces or not, square footage comes at a premium these days, and you can’t always get what you want. Drop by The Joinery, however, and you just might find you get what you need: our new Klamath Dining Table is designed to let you dine in style in nooks, crannies and other smaller spaces.

Its dimensions are smaller and its anatomy simple — but its design and construction are to our same uncompromising standards. This table features a radiused edge detail on the top, along with tapered legs, and a slight angle at the bottom of the supporting stretchers. The Klamath Dining Table is 42" round and 30" tall, perfect for the smaller space dining experience.

We’re delighted to introduce our newest addition to our prized Celilo family of living room and dining room furniture: the Celilo Media Console. We think it encapsulates the highest expression of the Celilo design theme, originally developed by Liz Holoubek in 2010.

Available in two standard size options  — an 18”x49”x20” 2-drawer version and 18”x72”x20” version with additional center flip-down door — the Celilo Media Console was designed by Taryn Johnson to fit within the Celilo look-and-feel while casting its own distinctive spell.
